Find Your Greatness

WEEKEND RECAP
Oooh-pah! Our cumulative weekend mileage is steadily increasing. On Saturday 30 walkers tackled two 9 mile loops with a mighty fine lunch break in-between. Making the walk two loops psychologically somehow makes it seems like the 18 miles is not as long. Don’t get me wrong... it is a long day and everyone did great!

We walked thru the newly renovated El Polin Spring, The Conservatory of Flowers, walk through Golden Gate Park on JKF Drive, out along the Coastal Trail beyond the Golden Gate Bridge, UP Lincoln Blvd by Baker Beach. The overcast day made for easier walking! We were so blessed to have route support provided by Connie with an array of snacks and beverages - THANK YOU Connie!

Sunday's walk was further afield, on the very pretty Sawyer Camp Trail with Hillcrest Blvd! Marcia led the group of approximately 12 walkers (THANK YOU Marcia!) and the great thing about this multi-use paved trail is each walker can decide how far to walk. Everyone had a great time walking in the early morning enjoying the scenery and wildlife. The trail is 12 miles out and back BUT if you add in a walk down Hillcrest Blvd the day is a total of 15 miles!

Wooohooo everyone on an amazing weekend!

THIS WEEK'S MAP QUOTES
Your body is built for walking.  Gary Yanker

Have the courage to take risks. Go where there are no guarantees. Get out of your comfort zone, even if it means being uncomfortable. The road less traveled is sometimes fraught with barricades, bumps, and uncharted terrain. But it is on that road where your character is truly tested. And have the courage to accept that you’re not perfect, nothing is and no one is… and that’s OK. Katie Couric

WEEKLY INSPIRATION

Watching the Olympics is so inspiring to me. Young women and men who are reaching for personal greatness. Medal, or no medal. Dedication, commitment, pursuing your dream whole-heartedly = greatness! You have greatness, too. Find your greatness.

"Somehow we've come to believe that greatness is only for the chosen few, for the superstars. The truth is, greatness is for us all. This is not about lowering expectations; it's about raising them for every last one of us. Greatness is not in one special place, and it's not in one special person. Greatness is wherever somebody is trying to find it. Find your greatness."
